Collaborative Auto-ethnography:  What 'n Why? Where...How to Start

This workshop seeks to get you started on ways of thinking and doing a collaborative autoethnographic study. The session entails a 30-minute sharing on collaborative auto-ethnographic studies, followed by a paired reading session with a reader's response activity. We shall then delve into brainstorming and research planning to jumpstart you on your journey to explore further research using this methodology.

Questions are welcome at any point in the workshop.

J. Aleta R. Villanueva, PhD

I love working with all kinds of minds in face-to-face, blended, and virtual learning communities. My prior engagements include teaching at progressive schools, IB World schools, community development work with NGO's and People's Organizations, full-time teacher volunteer work under the UP Oblation Corps, and supervision of volunteer programs. I have published qualitative research on curriculum integration, inquiry learning, virtual communities, open schooling, teaching presence, and the community of inquiry in the K-12 setting. Post-PhD, I am interested in collaborative research and public service projects, along these areas/themes: development of Social Studies OERs; teacher epistemic beliefs and teacher identity; transitioning from nonformal short courses to formal teacher education and adult literacy programs; workplace informal learning and leadership; online student engagement and communities of inquiry; researcher education and development, doctoral student research journeys, research relationship and academic identity development.
